Photoshop Tutorial No.1 – Adobe CS5 Logos
May 29th
Hey there guys,
Today I will be showing you how to create the current Adobe CS5 logos.
What we will (or should if you do this right!) end up with:
Step 1:
Create a new document 800 x 800
Step 2:
Fill the background with black
Step 3:
Create a perfect square using the rectangular marquee tool by clicking and holding Alt+Shift and drag. Make sure the square is small enough to fit other components around.
Step 4:
Create a new layer and fill this selection with a darkish blue. (005BD0)
Step 5:
Rename that layer Front and deselect (Ctrl/Cmd/?+D).
Step 6:
Create a new layer and grab the pen tool and create an angled rectangle like in the image below.
Step 7:
Right click the selection with the pen tool and click “Make Selection” using a feather of 0 px.
Fill this selection with a darker blue. (004BB0)
Step 8:
Rename that layer Side and deselect (Ctrl/Cmd/?+D).
Step 9:
Grab the pen tool again and make a shape similar to the one below.
Step 10:
Right click the selection with the pen tool and click “Make Selection” using a feather of 0 px.
Fill this selection with a lighter blue. (00CCFF)
Step 11:
Rename that layer Back and deselect (Ctrl/Cmd/?+D). Place this layer under all of the others.
Step 12:
Select both the Front and Side layers by holding down Ctrl/Cmd/? and change the opacity to 98%.
Step 13:
Right now that we’ve got the shape completed all we need now is the text. I had a few problems finding what text to use so in the end I decided to use Myriad Pro Bold which you can buy from here. I typed PS and reduced the size of the S. I then applied the following blending options.
Step 14:
I then changed the font colour to the same color as the back layer (00CCFF)
Step 15:
Align everything so everything joins and you are done! Congratulations on making your first CS5 logo, you can use the colours from the image below to create the other adobe software logos! Feel free to choose another font and please if you find a more similar font to their logos don’t hesitate contacting me.
